Dr Lorraine Salmon

Lorraine is from a family farming background and completed her first degree in Agriculture with Animal Science at Harper Adams University College. After graduating, Lorraine spent some years in industry involved in pig nutrition development with BOCM Pauls LTD and as a technical nutritionist with Provimi LTD before heading back to academia to complete a PhD in the field of heavy pig production at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. From there, she joined Danisco Animal Nutrition as a scientist in monogastric feed enzyme research.

These pig nutrition roles have covered research work, practical pig production and nutrition, both indoor and outdoor, health and welfare, the development of feed additives, premix and feed formulation as well as developing academically. They have provided knowledge and experience to understand both research and practical pig production and have allowed Lorraine to further develop her interest in evaluating research and its application in solving nutritional on-farm problems and developing production systems.
